What Can I Expect?

The 3rd Annual Focus on Infection Prevention Conference will offer interactive educational sessions on a variety of topics relevant to infection preventionists, registered nurses, public health professionals, nursing home administrators and all other interested health care providers.

Learning Objectives:
Review important concepts of applied microbiology.
Identify lab values and pathology findings that require the clinician’s immediate attention and action.
Explain the difference between infection and colonization, and the controversies surrounding active surveillance and contact isolation precautions.
Examine case studies dealing with infection control and prevention practices utilizing an audience response system.
Review the events of the Seasonal Flu and the 2009 Pandemic H1N1 outbreak, including the successes and pitfalls of mandatory vaccines, the latest immunization recommendations, and ethical issues surrounding immunization.
Reinforce key concepts of infection control and prevention practices utilizing an interactive game.
